In this assignment, a few students were selected by our lecturer forming into a group and to carry out an social experiment to experience and witness a proven theory in real life.

The task is to choose an issue that we would like to conduct an experiment on, design and plan the ways to conduct the experiment, collect the data thus conducting a 20minutes presentation and lastly submit a report with all the data and information we collected.

Group Members:
Phua Jing Sern
Zoe Kan
Parham
Tan Wen Hao
Cheah Teck Wei (Me)

The Bystander Effect
The chosen topic of our group is the Bystander Effect. We as a student in Taylor's found out that many of us have the habit of leaving our belongings on the table and walk away for toilet, phone calls or etc without a sense of danger as someone might steal it while you're not around. So, our group has decided to carry out a real life scenario where Zoe Kan acts as the victim where her belonging was stole and Parham as the theif. The purpose of this experiment is to observe that the reaction of surrounding people who noticed the happening of this crime. However, the results had proven the theory was right.

A research proposal is required to be planned before starting the experiment.

Reflection:
Its quite sad even though the results were proven as the theory when you know that how the people reacts when they noticed the crime happens. Out of 15 experiments, 100+ students and staff involved in, only two person took action when they saw this. Well this really proven that the theory of Bystander Effect is correct.

Although the results were quite saddening, it was truly an interesting experiment to carry out. In this assignment we had corporate well as a group where each of us were assigned with different task and able to do it efficiently.
